Because Camp PossAbility is 100% volunteer run, we could not do what we do without the support of amazing organizations and businesses who partner with us. One of those organizations that helped us immensely this year was Mister Quik Home Services, based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
One of the buildings that Camp PossAbility rents from Bradford Woods is called Carr Center. During camp week, Carr Center is the main “hub” for Camp PossAbility–with everything from registration on arrival to the camp dance The building gets a lot of use! One huge issue we have had in past years is that the air conditioning unit for the building was no longer working. Campers had to leave the dance and other evening activities early because it was actually cooler outside than inside on a hot summer night with everyone in the building. The heat also made some of our campers feel ill because it affected their medical conditions.
My husband, Eric, and I discussed that we were in desperate need of an air conditioning unit before camp started in August. I literally began emailing every single HVAC company in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas that I could find. Brad, the owner of Mr. Quick, emailed me and said that they would love to help. They sent a team out to assess the unit and determined that it needed to be fully replaced.
I was later contacted by Jaime, the HVAC manager, who was extremely helpful and a very kind person. He told me that he understood why we needed a new unit and that Mr. Quik wanted our campers to be able to enjoy every bit of camp and not have to miss any activities due to the heat in the building. Mr. Quik donated a 5 ton unit for Carr Center and installed it the day that we arrived for camp. This year, we did not have to have any campers leave to building due to overheating, and everyone stayed for the dance.
Not only does Camp PossAbility benefit from this amazing donation, but everyone who attends camp or uses the Bradford Woods facility will be able to benefit for many years to come.
We are beyond thankful to Brad, Jaime, and the Mister Quik team for supporting this amazing place and helping “make obstacles end and PossAbility begin.”
